Online “Saltland Genie” brings new hope to farmers
A little bit of magic was required to deliver the findings of the Sustainable Grazing on Saline Lands (SGSL) research and development program to farmers, consultants and land managers dealing with dryland salinity.
Market research of the target audience indicated that online delivery of the information was a preferred option.
The project team sought a web-based solution that would make a huge amount of technical information accessible and palatable to users. The concept of a “Saltland Genie” who knew all the answers to salinity problems was developed and became the cornerstone of the project.
Currie’s role was to guide the project team through the creative process to deliver an innovative, practical solution with sparkle. Extensive user trials and feedback have demonstrated the website’s value.
Saltland Genie was an initiative of the Land, Water & Wool Program and the Future Farm Industries Cooperative Research Centre.
